Circle
a special kind of prayer
ALMIGHTY AND EVER LIVING GOD, WHO BY THY HOLY APOSTLE HAST TAUGHT US TO MAKE PRAYERS, AND SUPPLICATIONS, AND TO GIVE THANKS FOR ALL
Let us begin with ourselves, allowing ourselves to feel where we are. The soles of our feet, the top of our head, our quiet breath, in and out, and the presence which is always with us.

Then let us allow our sense of that presence to expand. To take in the world around us, the people whom we love, the people with whom we live.

And the people who keep our world running smoothly, paper boy, and milk man, cleaners and sweepers.. ambulance, and taxi.. train and commodities drivers.

The different races and beliefs which live with us cheek by jowl, all in the presence of love.

Visualise your street, your town,
And those who govern locally.
And those who teach, and govern the future.
allow yourself to visualise the local schools, and hospitals, the board rooms of your local council, the workers there. See with the eyes of power, love and compassion and hold them in the presence of our lord.

Allow yourself to see with your minds eye  your whole country, shore to shore and border to border, let your mind flow over those in Government, and those in Commerce, those in the hills and valleys, farms and streets, be conscious of God's love for every particle of all your see, feel him walking through the traffic, striding across the fields, looking at the bush and forest..

Out across the seas, and the airways, let your love and your prayer swing out in great wings, fuelled by the love of God. It is like a map before you, the names of the countries, little things and big things about them pass by you, fuelled by the loving power that makes straight what is crooked, and longs to be invited in.

And as you do, you will find yourself praying for the Whole World. Not just the human world.  For birds and animals, fish and reptile, Tree and Rock, Desert and Ocean..

and for the Earth herself, our home ..and

The Tabernacle of His Human Presence.
The Lord showed Julian of Norwich the world. It was like a little nutshell in her hand. :And all will be well, and all manner of thing shall be well..

This prayer is based a little on the Prayer in Holy Communion, and a little on memories of Bishop Appleton's wonderful prayers. You might wish to look for some of his work. I know I found it invaluable in my own personal growth.
